Interest in them is popularized through the Internet, and their discussion and research become one of the Internet's chief uses within ten years. By that time, both Western and Eastern institutions of learning readily accept these theories, though they are slow to catch up on the massive discussion and amateur research that has already taken place within the majority of the population. Displeased with the content of the “Zen Theories,” Christian and Muslim officials begin a massive public relations campaign, which successfully sways some popular support away from these “Godless” theories. 2018: Private industry begins to make substantial gains in the area of space technology, and the “privatization of space” spurns new growth in space related fields of high technology and jet propulsion. The United States government announces plans to build an orbital construction platform that will serve to develop a strategic Anti-Missile Shield that would protect the United States from nuclear attack by ICBMs. The effort receives wide popular support despite criticisms about the cost of the program and the continued undermining of the long standing deterrence doctrine of the Cold War. 2022: The US establishes an orbital construction platform, and a feasible program to transfer materials into space via shuttle and assemble the complex network of satellites.
